TIRANA, June 29 /ATA/ – The city of Elbasan, central Albania, is the first city where distribution of ballot papers and other election-related materials to the voting centers for the Sunday’s local polls kicked off on Saturday, a process being monitored by the OSCE/ODIHR mission observers.
The materials are being withdrawn by the heads of administrative units escorted by police officers.
The process of distributing the election materials to the voting centres is also underway in the south-eastern region of Korça and the southern region of Fier.
“The process of distributing the election materials started at 10 am. No problems have been identified. We expect representatives from three more administrative units to report and collect the election materials and the whole distribution process is set to complete in the entire region of Fier by today afternoon,” Niko Neco, the head of the Commission of Electoral Administration Zone (CEAZ) No. 58, told reporters.
The election materials were also distributed to several voting centers in the north-western city of Shkodra.
The process is already underway in Tirana too. The whole process is being monitored by the OSCE-ODIHR Mission observers, whereas some 7326 police officers have been deployed across Albania to maintain order on the election day.
