TIRANA, June 28 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama stated in a television interview on Friday evening that the opposition should acknowledge it can’t stop justice and an ongoing judiciary reform, although the country’s opposition parties are seeking to obstruct the Sunday’s local election process.
The government head Edi Rama noted that the June 30 local polls are abnormal and do not honour Albania as a party has refused to participate in the process.
“These are abnormal elections and they do not honour Albania since one party has boycotted the polls. Yet I have done utmost efforts and offered Lulzim Basha (opposition leader) an agreement, which should as have served as the start of a new history. But Lulzim Basha has failed to understand that the agreement he agreed upon was an act of leadership. But it seems he did it just to escape the then situation as they later entered a worse cycle to give up parliamentary mandates,” Rama said.
“They (opposition) should accept the fact they can’t stop justice. The opposition can succeed in blocking the EU accession negotiations, but it won’t succeed in doing so next year. They will all figure out this path leads to nowhere,” Rama stated.
