No links with Russians, open to prosecution investigation – Basha

TIRANA, March 9 /ATA/ – By I. Vata/ – “The allegation that DP has been funded by the Russians to conspire against Edi Rama is absolutely ridiculous,” DP head Lulzim Basha told a news briefing on Friday.

Basha went on saying that DP has not breached any law and does not have connections with any individual, organization, Russian company or vested interest either.

We have asked the Albanian prosecution office to conduct verification and launch a thorough investigation into the source, Basha said.

At the end, Basha added that these efforts are being made to close the investigation into Saimir Tahiri case. The campaign of attacks from mercenaries aims to distract the attention of public opinion from drugs and crime. The drugs cases like “Xibraka”, Maminasi, Saimir Tahiri are of national importance and need not be shrouded in the mist of government propaganda, because drugs and crime are the major risks to destabilization of Albania.

Therefore, the crackdown on drugs, crime and their connections with politics is a national priority,” he said.

Rama: Patchwork of counter-accusations cannot cover up your scandal

PM Edi Rama retorts to DP head Lulzim Basha shortly after his statement denying any links with Russians, pointing to prosecution office as a remedy.

PM Rama appeals to DP head Basha to go to prosecution office rather than leveling counter-accusations to cover up the scandal.
