TIRANA, March 9 /ATA/ – The U.S. Ambassador to Albania, Donald Lu, told local media on Friday that Arber Cekaj, the prime suspect over a 613 kg of pure cocaine that was recently seized by the Albanian police, was definitely “a big fish” and urged Albania’s international partners to catch Cekaj and bring him before justice.
“In every respect, Arber Cekaj is ‘a big fish’. I urge Albania’s international partners to find Arber Cekaj and bring him before justice,” the U.S. diplomat told “News 24”, an Albanian news TV channel, commenting the seizure of 613 kilos of pure heroin hidden in a banana container from Colombia.
“In every respect, Arber Cekaj is a big fish. His company imported a large shipment of banana that also contained the biggest haul of the drug ever caught in history of Albania. He has been previously under investigation for trafficking cocaine. We congratulate the Serious Crimes prosecutors who issued the arrest warrant for Cekaj. Albania has a long history of arrest of eels and ignoring big fish. This is about to end today. We urge international partners of Albania to find Cekaj and hand him over to justice,” Donald Lu said.
