Rama: Police arrests fully lawful — “Whoever destroys public property will pay”

TIRANA, Oct. 20 /ATA/ — Prime Minister Edi Rama stated today that while the courts have fallen short, every police arrest made was fully lawful.

Speaking to high school principals in Tirana, Rama noted that despite judges being influenced by the intense pressure of this “blind force,” courts have ordered parental supervision even in cases involving minors.

“Parents bear responsibility,” Rama said. “While we recognize that parents need support under difficult social circumstances, they will be held accountable for the damage caused by their children.”

He added: “We are actively developing a package of administrative rather than purely criminal measures, because whoever causes destruction must pay. Anyone who damages property, tears up city sidewalks built with taxpayer money, or forces the municipality and government to divert funds from schools, nurseries, and kindergartens toward repairs will be pursued by the state until full restitution is paid.”
