Businesses support reintegration of juveniles in conflict with law, offering a path to a new future

TIRANA, Aug 10 /ATA/ Justice Minister Toni Gogu today shared the story of a juvenile in conflict with the law who was reintegrated into society with support and an opportunity to learn a trade.

“Sometimes, a second chance begins with a simple sentence: ‘Come, I’ll teach you a trade,’” Gogu wrote, alongside a video documenting the juvenile’s reintegration.

According to the minister, for a juvenile in conflict with the law, the opportunity to learn a profession and gain employment can be an important step towards building a future.

“Reintegration works when businesses open their doors,” Gogu said.

In the video shared by the minister, the owner of a barbershop describes his business’s experience in supporting juveniles in conflict with the law.

“As a business, we have always been willing to support juveniles who have been in conflict with the law. We had one case whom we supported for nearly six months and eventually certified,” he said.

The barbershop owner stressed that supporting juveniles in conflict with the law should not be viewed solely as the responsibility of state institutions.

“Supporting these juveniles is not only the responsibility of the Ministry of Justice, but of our entire society, our families and businesses,” he said.

He urged businesses and society to contribute to the reintegration of juveniles in conflict with the law, in cooperation with public institutions.

“I would therefore call on all of us to support these juveniles together, by working in partnership with all institutions,” the business owner said.
