TIRANA, May 8/ATA/ The €11M EU4Municipalities II initiative has launched in Durrës, aiming to accelerate Albania’s EU accession by empowering local governments. The program will modernize services and fund key infrastructure projects, enhancing the daily lives of citizens.
Minister of State for Local Government Ervin Demo praised the project, emphasizing that it directly contributes to the improvement of public services and the strengthening of local administration.
“Building on our initial success in Berat, this second phase is crucial for accelerating Albania’s EU path. By empowering municipalities and upgrading local services, we are delivering tangible results for citizens”, said Demo.
According to him, an €11 million program will bolster municipalities by funding local infrastructure, strengthening EU project capacity through technical assistance and advancing the digitalization of public services.
“Strong municipalities mean stronger local economies and progress towards the European Union”, emphasized Minister Demo.
According to him, as 70% of EU laws are implemented at the local level, empowering municipal authorities is essential. /e.xh/j.p/r.e/p.s./
