PM Rama: Albania leads region for public procurement quality

TIRANA, March 28 /ATA/ – Albania has made significant progress in the quality of its public procurement system, moving from the bottom to the top in the region, Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Saturday, citing European Union assessments.

“According to the European Union, not me, we have moved from last place to first in the region in terms of public procurement quality,” Rama said during a Socialist Party assembly in Tirana.

He acknowledged that regional comparisons may not match standards in countries such as Germany or Austria, but said leading within the region marked important progress.

The government head also highlighted improvements in public services, pointing to the impact of the government’s e-Albania platform.

“Services have improved, and it is clear that e-Albania has changed people’s lives,” he said, adding that further enhancements to digital services are ongoing.
