TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Saturday that the functions of the state entity in the oil sector will consist of ensuring the state reserve and continuously monitoring the market.
At the meeting of the Socialist Party’s National Assembly, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that the government is now in an advanced stage of shaping the state entity, which will be soon up and running to intervene in the oil market.
Rama emphasized that a principal duty of the new entity will be to guarantee supply and thereby prevent any form of price speculation. He further noted that the government is concluding a process which, within the next one to two months, will be finalized with the introduction of two additional components into the oil market monitoring framework.
Prime Minister Rama stated that these two elements will yield swift results in combating oil tax evasion and smuggling, which continue to persist.
“One of the components is a product developed by the company ‘Alb Trace,’ which will enable oil tracking, while the other involves real‑time monitoring of all transit oil flows. These are two areas where weaknesses have been identified. We are confident that the new plan, incorporating these two elements, will by the end of this year provide a comprehensive picture of increased revenues for pensioners, wages, and investments, as well as a stabilization of prices—always taking into account pricing outside the crisis context,” Rama added.
