TIRANA, March 21 /ATA/-By Maela Marini/ Prime Minister Edi Rama, also Chairman of the Socialist Party, stated on Saturday that, as part of strengthening civil emergency capacities, Albania has commenced domestic production of firefighting vehicles.
At the Socialist Party’s National Assembly, Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that Albania is now prepared to begin expanding its firefighting fleet by producing fire engines through its publicly owned company, established recently.
According to Prime Minister Rama, this demonstrates the state’s growing role as partner, guarantor, and beneficiary. He highlighted that Albania will produce not only fire engines but also inspection vehicles for diverse services. He clarified that this will not be deferred to 2035, as the first orders have already been made and domestic production has commenced step by step.
The Prime Minister also announced the allocation of a dedicated fund to support all municipalities in managing civil emergencies, providing them with new equipment. He noted that the country is approaching the fire season, and therefore a new structure has been established to address the consequences. This structure incorporates the Civil Protection Agency, which will cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and with municipalities to carry out infrastructure‑related interventions, the Prime Minister added.
