TIRANA, March 18/ATA/ Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs welcomed today the decision to finally lift all EU measures against Kosovo.
Writing in the X platform, Hoxha appreciated the lifting of measures as long overdue.
This step was long overdue and confirms Kosovo’s commitment to European values, rule of law and constructive regional cooperation, is read in a post of the Albanian chief diplomat.
Further on, Hoxha wrote that the decision opens a new chapter –it enables a full approach and without any obstacle to the EU funds, assistance and all-round cooperation. It contributes to rebuild confidence and strengthens the reliability of the European integration process.
The minister noted that advancing Kosovo’s European path—including the prompt consideration of its application for candidate country status—will directly contribute to a more stable and secure region, while reaffirming the European perspective of all Western Balkan countries.
The European Union lifted yesterday all punitive measures imposed on Kosovo in June 2023.
The measures were imposed in response to tensions in the Serb-majority north of Kosovo after the Albanian mayors of four northern municipalities took office. /p.s./
