TIRANA, March 18/ATA/ While historically a summer hotspot for locals, Saranda and its surroundings have evolved into a year-round destination, increasingly popular during winter and spring.
In recent years, Saranda has experienced a surge in tourism, extending well beyond the traditional summer peak.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared today in the social media images of the Sapphire Princess which opened Saranda’s 2026 cruise season with more than 2,600 tourists.
The cruise ship has docked in Saranda from Italy, with the next leg of its itinerary bound for Greece.
The influx of tourists in Saranda testifies not only to the growing popularity of the Albanian Riviera, but also to the positive impact that tourism is bringing to the local economy.
The city in the south of the country welcomes thousands of domestic and foreign visitors every year. With its crystal clear waters, historical heritage and Mediterranean climate, Saranda offers the perfect combination for a relaxing holiday. It is known for its attractive sites such as the Lëkurës Castle, the Monastery of 40 Saints, the Butrint National Park (UNESCO), as well as its numerous beaches with white sand (Ksamil) and clear water. /e.i/j.p/p.s./
