TIRANA, March 13/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party Sali Berisha held a meeting today with his party’s Department of Infrastructure to announce that the opposition is launching a broad discussion on the political platform with which it aims to provide solutions to the main challenges of the country.
Berisha said that infrastructure is on top of the political platform because of the abuses of public funds made in this field.
He added that the opposition must develop a robust strategy to tackle the problems accumulated over the last twelve years of socialist governance.
According to Berisha, the recent political developments and decisions taken by the government have undermined, in his opinion, the functioning of justice and the legitimacy of governance.
He mentioned several infrastructure projects, claiming that there was misuse of public funds in them.
According to him, the same problem also extends to investments in schools, water supply and irrigation systems.
Berisha also pointed at Tirana-Durrës railway project.
“There is no train, despite the fact that 700-800 workers are paid,” he said.
According to the opposition leader, the funds invested in infrastructure have not yielded the expected results for the citizens.
“This has happened because of corruption, theft of funds such as in the case of Tirana incinerator”, he said.
“As a result, 49% of Albanians are in poverty or at risk of poverty”, he concluded. /gj.m/j.p/p.s./
