TIRANA, Feb 27 /ATA/ – The cabinet has approved a 2.5% wage indexation for teaching and non-teaching staff in Albania’s pre-university education system, under a decision adopted on Friday.
The Council of Ministers endorsed a measure setting the structure and salary levels for teachers and other employees in educational institutions and auxiliary bodies within the pre-university system.
Under the decision, salaries will be indexed by 2.5%. The financial impact for 2026 will be covered by the budgets of the respective institutions, as approved under the 2026 state budget law.
For local government units, the additional costs will be financed through transfers allocated in the 2026 budget law, as well as through their own-source revenues.
The Education Ministry, the Economy and Innovation Ministry and local government units have been tasked with implementing the decision.
The measure will enter into force upon publication in the Official Gazette and will have financial effect retroactive to Jan. 1, 2026.
