TIRANA, Feb 27 /ATA/ – The cabinet approved has approved a 2.5% pay rise for active military personnel, effective from Jan. 1, 2026.
The decision, adopted by the Council of Ministers on Friday, provides for a 2.5% indexation of base pay by rank as well as additional pay linked to academic titles and scientific degrees for active members of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Albania.
Under the updated provisions, the components “base salary by rank” and “salary for academic title/scientific degree/scientific qualification” will be adjusted upward by 2.5%, in line with the indexation measure.
The financial impact for 2026, including salaries and social and health insurance contributions, will be covered by the budget of the Ministry of Defence in accordance with the 2026 state budget law.
The decision enters into force upon publication in the Official Gazette and will apply retroactively from Jan. 1, 2026.
