TIRANA, Oct 15 /ATA/ Infrastructure and Energy Minister Enea Karakaçi denounced the violence against police officers during today’s protest in Shkodër, stressing that such actions were unacceptable.
He said the footage of the head of public order at the Shkodër Local Police Directorate being hit on the head with hard objects was deeply disturbing and showed a serious act of violence that must be firmly condemned.
“Nothing can justify violence against those carrying out their duties to maintain public order and safety,” Karakaçi wrote.
He added that those responsible must face justice and that every such incident must be met with the appropriate legal action.
“We stand in solidarity with the injured police officer and hope for his swift recovery,” he wrote.
Tensions and clashes with police broke out in Shkodër earlier this morning during the protest.
