TIRANA, Feb 21 /ATA/ – Albania’s Muslim Community on Saturday condemned unrest outside a major mosque in Tirana after worshipers were injured during an opposition protest last evening.
In a statement posted on social media, the Muslim Community expressed what it described as “deep indignation over the unjustified injury of believers” who were inside the Namazgjah Mosque performing Taraweeh prayers.
“The Muslim Community of Albania has always shown restrained in its public positions and reactions. However, this restraint should not be misinterpreted as tolerance of violations of the constitutional rights and freedoms of our believers,” the statement said.
The Community “firmly condemned” the Feb. 20 incident near the Namazgjah Mosque, saying innocent worshipers were injured “without any cause.”
The Muslim Community called on all parties involved to show restraint and responsibility to ensure that actions do not infringe upon the rights and freedoms of worshipers or any other citizens.
