TIRANA, Oct 17 /ATA/ Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Saturday that small businesses affected by violence during recent protests in Tirana will be able to report damage through the “Dëmi im” service on the e-Albania platform.
Speaking during a visit to a business affected by the demonstrations, Rama added that 10 teams from the General Directorate of Taxes would be deployed to assess the damage and collect information from small businesses across the capital.
The Prime Minister said the government would stand by families and businesses that had suffered losses, reaffirming its support for citizens who earn their living through honest work.
“Starting today, every small business damaged by the wave of indiscriminate violence will have access to a dedicated section on the e-Albania platform where it can register its losses. As I told the business owners affected here, 10 verification teams from the General Directorate of Taxes will be on the ground to collect data on the damage suffered by small businesses across the capital.
“We will stand together with every family in Tirana that earns an honest living and has lost its assets. We will turn these ruins of senseless destruction into symbols of our strength and determination to move forward,” Rama said.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister also addressed the protests held over the past four days, stating that the voices of students, young people and citizens must be heard with respect.
“We respect students, and I value the strength of their dreams and hopes as the driving force behind the future and as the impetus for all of us to move forward faster. Their voices, the voices of young people and of every citizen who has taken part in protests today, must and will be heard with respect. Their right to protest must and will be protected as a right for which we have all fought at different times,” Rama said.
However, he stressed that he would not allow acts of violence and destruction, as he described them, to jeopardise the country’s future.
“But precisely because young people are our future, I will not allow anyone to jeopardise the future of this country, where they and every child in Albania are growing up — neither for the political gain of those unscrupulous hands that have returned with the frenzy of burning and destruction, nor for the backward aims of foreign hands that have intervened to stop us, nor for any other purpose,” Rama said.
The Prime Minister stressed that his responsibility at this moment was to protect citizens, ensure justice and continue Albania’s path towards European integration.
“My responsibility is clearer in these difficult hours than on any good day: to protect our citizens, ensure justice and carry Albania forward, together with this governing majority, which has a very clear mandate: Albania in the European Union by 2030,” Rama said.
