TIRANA, Feb 11 /ATA/ – Albania, Kosovo and Croatia held a trilateral meeting in the northern city of Shkodër on Wednesday to advance cooperation in the field of defence.
The meeting was led by Albania’s Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Arben Kingji, together with Croatia’s Chief of the General Staff and the Commander of the Kosovo Security Force.
Discussions focused on ways to deepen military and defense cooperation through concrete implementation plans.
“The purpose of this meeting is to strengthen military engagement and coordination, in line with the trilateral defence agreement between our countries,” Kingji said in a social media post accompanying photos from the meeting.
The talks follow a joint declaration signed last March in Tirana by Kosovo’s acting Defence Minister Ejup Maqedonci, Albania’s Defence Minister Pirro Vengu and Croatia’s Defence Minister Ivan Anušić.
The declaration outlined four main areas of cooperation: enhancing defence capabilities and cooperation in the defence industry; increasing interoperability through education, training and exercises; countering hybrid threats and strengthening resilience; and providing full support for Euro-Atlantic integration.
According to the text of the declaration, the cooperation aims to improve the three countries’ preparedness to address security threats and achieve shared defence and security objectives.
