Drin River flow has diminished, yet residual water level posed concern in Obot

TIRANA, Jan 8 /ATA/ In an update on weather conditions, the Shkodër Prefecture announced that the situation is generally stable.
The Prefecture noted that rainfall has eased and has mostly stopped across the region. Any issues that have been identified remain localized and are being closely monitored by the relevant authorities.
In the Shkodër Municipality, the Drin River’s flow has reduced, while flooding persists on the Oboti road. The extent of inundated areas has increased, though no additional emergency incidents have been reported at this stage.
The Shkodër Prefecture also notes that snowfall recorded overnight in the mountainous areas, particularly along the Bogë–Theth road. Emergency measures, including road clearing and salting, have been deployed to maintain safe travel conditions.
Due to the low-intensity rainfall, no civil emergency issues have been reported in the Vau i Dejës Municipality at this time. For the waterlogged homes identified earlier, the process of preparing documentation for assistance is now underway.
The report states that the situation in the Malësi e Madhe Municipality is normal, with light rainfall and snow in the mountainous areas of the Kelmend administrative unit, without any issues. However, in the village of Vukpalaj, the road is blocked by water at several entrance bridges, with water levels exceeding 3 meters, while the rest of the area remains accessible.
No civil emergency issues have been reported in the Pukë Municipality; the rainfall has eased, and temperatures remain low.
According to data from the Directorate of Irrigation and Drainage in Lezhë, the recorded rainfall was 25 mm over the past 24 hours, while water levels at monitoring points remain below critical thresholds. The pumping stations continue to operate at full capacity, and the embankments are not experiencing any issues.
The situation in the Shkodër District is under control and is being closely monitored by Civil Emergency authorities, in collaboration with local and central institutions, to ensure the safety of the public.
