TIRANA, Jan 5 /ATA/ – Tax Administration said Monday taxpayers will be required to apply online for relief under double taxation avoidance agreements starting from January 1, 2026.
The procedure will be carried out exclusively through the tax authority’s digital platform, where taxpayers must complete the relevant electronic form and upload supporting documentation in line with the criteria, procedures and deadlines set out in tax legislation and secondary regulations.
The electronic submission of documents must be completed within the legal deadlines in order for taxpayers to benefit from the tax relief provided under double taxation agreements, the administration said.
In cases where the digital system temporarily does not allow electronic submission or verified technical problems occur, taxpayers will be allowed to submit documentation in physical form to the General Directorate of Taxes, provided they explain the reason for the inability to submit electronically.
The Tax Administration urged taxpayers to familiarise themselves in advance with the use of the platform and the required documentation, referring them to an official user guide published on its YouTube channel.
