TIRANA, Oct 16 /ATA/ The Media and Information Agency (MIA) said on Friday that media outlets had published false reports concerning the detention of a boy who had been identified as a girl in media coverage, as well as the circumstances of his apprehension during the protest.
MIA referred to a clarification issued by Tirana Police regarding the case.
“Tirana Police clarifies that the person shown in the published footage is a boy, not a girl, as claimed in some media reports,” MIA said in its statement.
According to MIA, the video circulated online shows the initial intervention by law enforcement officers to bring the situation under control.
“The footage shows the initial stage of the police operation to restrain individuals at one of the state institutions they had entered. At this stage, standard verification and search procedures are carried out before the individuals are taken to the police station,” the clarification said.
