TIRANA, December 20/ATA/ Minister of Education Mirela Kumbaro participated in the ceremony organized on occasion of the 20th anniversary of founding of the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University in Durrës.
In her remarks, Kumbaro highlighted the role of universities as engines of development and the necessity of profiling and internationalizing Albanian higher education.
“Universities take their identity from the territory and give the territory a vision. The “Aleksandër Moisiu” University is an example of shared growth with the city of Durrës and its economy,” the minister said.
Kumbaro emphasized that 2026 will be the year with the highest historical budget for education, while 185 million euros have been foreseen for higher education and scientific research, including the revenues of the public universities themselves.
“University in Durrës enters a new phase of development with the highest historical budget for education in 2026, with concrete investments in the Faculty of Professional Studies, with the design of the new university campus through an international competition and with a clear profiling strategy through internationalization 2025–2030”, said Kumbaro.
Rector of the university, Prof. Dr. Shkëlqim Fortuzi, focused on the university’s 20-year journey, the expansion of study programs and strategic projects in progress, emphasizing the vision for a modern, open and competitive university in the European higher education space.
The ceremony served as a moment of reflection on the achievements, but also as a starting point for the new phase of development of “Aleksandër Moisiu” University in the service of students, the city of Durrës and the country. /k.s/a.f/p.s./
