TIRANA, Sept 9 /ATA/ The dismantling of unauthorized buildings encroaching on public spaces continues apace throughout the country.
Prime Minister Edi Rama shared footage today from the operation on the ground at Cape Rodon, where the special forces are now clearing large volumes of debris.
Over the past few days, 13 illegal structures have been demolished, bringing the total to 54 buildings taken down.
Restoration of territory control on the magnificent landscape of Cape Rodon, where all the constructions on ‘grabbed land’ have been razed to the ground, and where engineering forces are now clearing large volumes of debris.
PM Rama expressed full commitment to continuing this new chapter of Urban Renaissance 2.0.
State authorities have reported that the reclaimed public space, particularly in the capital, continues to expand each day. At the same time, efforts are underway for the next phase, which includes multiple projects aimed at enhancing and upgrading infrastructure.
In early July, the government launched a large-scale campaign to reclaim public spaces in major cities, giving businesses two weeks’ time to remove structures such as barriers and awnings that had taken over public areas, often used for parking or outdoor business use.
The government also announced plans to tighten the legal framework for anyone engaging in illegal construction, as well as for inspectors who turn a blind eye to such activities. /j.p/sm/
