PM Rama: Wrapping up Albania’s EU accession negotiations top priority during fourth mandate

TIRANA, Sept 4 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Thursday evening his government’s top priority in its fourth term in office will be to complete the country’s accession negotiations with the European Union.

In a television interview, Rama said the continuation of EU talks would be one of the government’s main commitments.

“The key objective of this mandate is to conclude negotiations with the EU,” he said.

Rama added that the new cabinet would reflect both the will of voters in the May 11 elections and his ambition for the ruling majority to act as if it were in opposition, pressing itself to achieve more.

He said Albania’s uninterrupted 12 years of Socialist-led governance was a “major asset,” citing both experienced officials and new figures likely to enter the cabinet.

“At the end of the day, the government will be a selection that reflects both the will of May 11 and my ambition that we act with our achievements as if we were in opposition,” Rama said.
