Denaj: Three new financing lines to support farmers

TIRANA, June 27 /ATA/ Anila Denaj, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with Deputy Minister Dhimo Kote and Lezha Mayor Pjerin Ndreu, visited Lezha to tour the farm of Gëzim Loci, a hard-working farmer who has been growing 6 acres of native watermelon for several years now.

Denaj emphasized that “the use of indigenous seeds in crop production supports the conservation of local biodiversity and enhances the resilience and efficiency of the regional agricultural value chain.”

The Minister announced that Gëzim is one of the beneficiaries of the National Support Scheme, highlighting during the discussion with farmers the need to modernize farms through agricultural machinery and new equipment.

“In this context, we presented to Gëzim the three new financing lines, through which, under the National Investment Scheme with a 50% grant, combined with Soft Loan support and the Sovereign Guarantee, every farmer can access financing with an interest rate of just 2% and collateral coverage of up to 70%,” said Denaj.
The Minister invited farmers to apply to the National Investment Scheme in Agriculture to benefit from a 50% grant for the construction of storage facilities, agro-processing, new plantings, drip irrigation systems, and the automation of agricultural processes—offering financing with low interest rates.

During the meeting, the Mayor of Lezhë, Pjerin Ndreu, shared the positive news that, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, work has begun on selecting the location for a new collection center for the region’s agricultural products. This center is expected to further expand the market and export value chain.
