TIRANA, March 12 /ATA/ – Tirana has been officially named as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue 2025, Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Wednesday.
Addressing a meeting marking the event, the government head underlined that the nomination represents yet another milestone in modern history of the Albanian capital.
In his remarks, PM Rama said that Tirana has undergone a breathtaking transformation, becoming cleaner and more livable city.
“Today is not that easy to walk along the streets of our city, because of the incredible transformation the capital has experienced throughout its history,” the Premier said, adding that Tirana is a much younger capital city compared to other capitals in the region.
PM Rama highlighted the fact that it was this tremendous transformation that Tirana was picked as the European Youth Capital for 2022, the European Capital of Sport in 2023, the Capital of Tourism in 2024 and now as the Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue.
“This means it is precisely this transformation that is being noticed by others too. And this is the reason why we are increasingly gaining recognition, respect and admiration for what we have achieved, considering that we emerged from the darkness of a North Korea-like state at the heart of Europe,” he said.
