TIRANA, February 10/ATA/ Tirana Mayor Erion Veliaj has reacted after his arrest today afternoon by the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK).
Through a post on social media, Veliaj distanced himself from the accusations brought against him by SPAK, while emphasizing that he and his family have nothing to do with the word corruption.
Veliaj wrote he was not surprised by this absurd end of the first chapter of media campaign and a lunatic prosecutor.
Veliaj wrote that he didn’t find it easy for him to endure everything he has heard.
“I don’t believe the media will have the courage to dissect the idiotic accusations one by one, and I am terribly sorry that some entrepreneurs have fallen into the hands of that lustful ignorant because they have sponsored cultural activities for Tirana”, wrote Veliaj.
Veliaj expressed his regret for this blow to his family and municipality co-workers.
“I feel sorry for the sisters and brothers of the Socialist Party and for the chairman, who, after so many years of joint electoral battles, if he will not have me by his side in this campaign, as seems likely, while they throw me in jail without trial 3 months before the elections. I tell everyone what I told the chairman and whoever else asked me: My family and I have nothing to do with the word corruption. This story of ours is so tragicomic that people will not believe it when they hear the idiocies of that accusation turned down one by one. It will not be easy as under these conditions you cannot explain it. However, I have great faith that the truth is stronger than any wall and than any idiot who becomes a barricade to it by abusing the power of justice”, concluded Veliaj. /a.f/r.e/p.s./
