TIRANA, February 10/ATA/ Today, in Shkodra there were presented two important projects for the city: Revival of the Museum of Memory, as well as the reconstruction of the area around the Great Mosque. The presentation event was held at an open meeting with Shkodra citizens and representatives of the religious community, where Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present.
Shkodra Mayor Benet Beci shared in the social media some images from the initial concept proposed by the Casanova & Hernandez Architects studio for the Great Mosque square project.
According to Beci, “The project includes a public square that highlights the monumentality of the Abu Bakr Mosque and serves as a public and ceremonial space, an underground parking lot in function of the city center and modern space for commercial and social activities in respect of the cult object”.
“The project is under development and will reflect comments from all stakeholders; I am sure that it is a welcome positive development for the center of our city”, wrote Beci.
The revival of the Museum of Memory, as well as the reconstruction of the space around the Shkodra Mosque, are the works of architect Jesus Hernandez, who also designed the projects for the “Marubi” National Museum of Photography, the Zogaj stone carpet, and the new entrance to Shkodra.
Their realization, with support of the Albanian government, will turn these two buildings into two key reference points for the citizens, visitors, and tourists in Shkodra. /r.e/a.f/p.s./
