TIRANA, Dec 6 /ATA/ As part of the “Integrity Week,” the Minister of State for Public Administration and Anti-Corruption, Adea Pirdeni, participated in a meeting co-organized by the Council of Europe (CoE) and the Albanian School of Public Administration (ASPA), which launched the Council of Europe’s course “Introduction to Corruption Prevention” for all public administration employees at both central and local levels.
In her remarks, Minister Pirdeni highlighted the importance of the course as a handy and valuable resource for the administration, helping them gain a deeper understanding of the various forms of corruption and methods of preventing it.
“This training is a significant step forward in our efforts to build a more accountable public administration, committed to high ethical standards. I am confident that this course, now accessible to the entire public administration, is designed to address integrity risks and help foster a new work culture based on integrity. This initiative aims for mechanisms that serve every public official. It is never too much for each of us to be reminded of our obligations towards entities outside the public administration. As part of the commitments the Albanian government has made to fulfill the obligations laid down in all international reports, particularly the GRECO report, this issue takes on special importance. Today, this initiative has gained a more widespread reach and a more inclusive approach,” said Minister Pirdeni.
The online course “Introduction to Corruption Prevention” consists of 13 comprehensive modules that cover the key aspects of the fight against corruption, starting with basic concepts and forms of corruption, tools and strategies for its prevention, as well as the importance of ethical conduct. The course focuses on managing conflicts of interest, post-office restrictions, gifts and benefits, asset declarations, and ensuring free access to information.
Furthermore, the course covers topics such as lobbying, political party financing, public procurement, and whistleblowing, emphasizing ethical standards and transparency.
Starting today, all public administration employees can take the course through the Council of Europe’s online HELP platform, in Albanian, by following a simple registration process.
The meeting was also attended by Giulia Re, Head of the Council of Europe’s Office in Tirana; Enkela Dudushi, Director of the Department of Public Administration; and Arlinda Hoti, Director of the Training and Communication Directorate at ASPA.
