TIRANA, Oct 21 /ATA/ On its ninth day, the protest escalated this afternoon, with several Molotov cocktails exploding near the perimeter of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Protesters threw Molotov cocktails towards the government building, where State Police officers had been deployed.
Protesters also set fire to a chair in the middle of the boulevard.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and worked to extinguish the flames.
Additional police forces and a water cannon moved towards the group of protesters on ‘Martyrs of the Nation’ Boulevard, with the aim of dispersing the crowd.
Tensions subsequently eased, and protesters marched to Skanderbeg Square before dispersing. They announced plans to reconvene at 09:00 tomorrow outside Parliament.
