TIRANA, December 6/ATA/ Chairman of the Democratic Party in opposition Lulzim Basha met with Congressman Brian Babin. During this meeting, Basha highlighted the continuous help that the USA has given for the fight against corruption, the strengthening of the justice system and the rule of law.
Basha acquainted the congressman with the DP agenda of fight against corruption, cleaning politics from corrupt and incriminated politicians, free and fair elections, and economic development and creating opportunities for Albanians not to leave the country.
Basha emphasized that corruption is the biggest obstacle to development of the country and the creation of opportunities for young people to build their lives in Albania.
Focusing on the delicate security situation, Basha expressed concern about Russia’s efforts to create a new hotbed of tension in the Balkans, and that what happened on September 24 in Kosovo was an expression of this attempt. But, thanks to the professionalism of Kosovo police and the support of KFOR, it failed.
Russia is looking for a new front to draw attention from Ukraine, Basha said, while adding that Russia must pay for the damage caused in Ukraine. In this context, Basha acquainted him with the resolution for the reconstruction of Ukraine prepared by him, which enjoys wide-support in the Council of Europe, for which he is also a Rapporteur./p.s./
