TIRANA, Nov 2 /ATA/ Today is the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists.
The Delegation of the European Union in Tirana, commemorating this day, emphasized that, “The EU stands in full support of the voices that inform and inspire us.”
“Freedom of the press is essential for a healthy democracy,” the EU Delegation underlined in a post on social media.
While the EU ambassador in Tirana, Luigi Soreca, said that, “protecting journalists means protecting our own rights.”
“Democracy cannot work without free and independent media,” he added.
“The EU stands with the journalists around the world, who, every day, exercise their freedom of expression for the benefit of us all,” Soreca said.
