TIRANA, August 26/ATA/ As a result of the continuous efforts of the Civil Emergency forces, assisted by the Armed Forces as well as under the coordination of the Civil Protection Agency, during the last 24 hours there have been extinguished 10 fires all over the country.
Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi said today that 100 soldiers of the Armed Forces, 4 vehicles and the Cougar helicopter have been engaged in extinguishing them.
Peleshi emphasized that the efforts are going ahead towards the final extinguishing of the fire on Mount Shpirag, where 100 soldiers and the Cougar helicopter of the Armed Forces have been engaged for two days for the complete neutralization of the flames.
“The fire is under control in the village of Rrilë, Shënkoll municipal unit in Lezha, in the urban waste dump. The fire has been extinguished and the situation is being monitored as the waste may continue to burn inside without appearing on the surface”, he added.
Also, the minister said that the fire has been reactivated in the place called “Stream above Okol”, in the village of Theth, in the municipality of Shkodra, where the Civil Emergency structures in the region have been notified. The situation is being monitored by Theth police services.
“In the village of Bushat, in Vau i Dejës, the fire on a refuse surface has been completely extinguished and the arsonist has been escorted by the State Police officers to the police station”, said Peleshi. /m.m/p.s./
