Albania’s non-performing loans ratio at 5.18% in April

TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ – The ratio of non-performing loans (NPLs) in Albania’s banking system was stable in April, central bank said on Friday.

According to Bank of Albania the NPLs ratio slightly increased to 5.18% in April from 5.15% in March.

The NPLs ratio has slightly gone up from 5 % by end of the last year, yet it is still lower compared to 5.42 % during the same period of the previous year.

Central bank said that the loan portfolio for the economy totalled 710.7 billion lek, down from 722.3 billion lek in October last year.

The change in the central bank’s monetary policy has apparently slowed down the new loans, especially in the business segment, a factor that is leading to a contraction of the loan portfolio.
