Krifca: Support for 320 medicinal plant enterprises in Malësi e Madhe

TIRANA, June 9 /ATA/ Medicinal-aromatic plants are a precious tradition and asset in Malesi e Madhe.

The Malësi e Madhe area is famed for the growing and collection of medicinal-aromatic plants, becoming a source of income for many families.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Frida Krifca announced that, “The Agency for Agricultural and Rural Development, through the National Scheme, in the years (2018-2022) has supported 320 farms in Malësi e Madhe for the expansion of cultivation areas, the creation of collection points and for product processing.”

Krifca said that tailored-made support for this important sector is envisaged in the IPARD III program.
According to her, the medicinal plant sector is supported thanks to measure 7: Diversification of farms and business development.

“Public support reaches up to 70% of the value of the investment for the construction or reconstruction of premises, the purchase of machines and equipment for the cultivation and drying of plants, which add value to the product in markets and exports,” said Krifca.
