TIRANA, April 11 /ATA/ Kosovo’s Minister of Economy Artane Rizvanolli announced today that Kosovo will enter the Energy Exchange (ALPEX) in September.
“We expect that during the month of September we will start the first auction that will be traded through ALPEX in the commercial area of Kosovo and at the same time the union of the Kosovo-Albania markets”, stated Rizvanolli during the opening ceremony of the first auction of the market that is taking place in Tirana today.
Speaking about the impact of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, she said that the energy sector was the most affected.
According to her, Albania and Kosovo have increased cooperation between them so that both countries can protect themselves from the expensive import of electricity, saving about 50 million euros to the citizens of Kosovo and the same amount to those of Albania.
Minister Rizvanolli emphasized that the common market creates new business opportunities. This, she noted, will increase benefits and service standards.
“In the long term, the objective of the government of Kosovo is to guarantee supply security and protect citizens and businesses from high prices, until we make a transition towards clean energy. Now, through ALPEX, we are one step closer to achieving this goal. ALPEX will serve as an operator for the management of the markets, this market that applies the best European practices”, said Rizvanolli./gj.m/r.e/p.s./
