TIRANA, April 11/ATA/ At the venues of the Faculty of Medicine, there was held the process of selecting branches in the new cycle of long-term qualifications.
Minister of Health and Social Protection Ogerta Manastirliu closely followed the selection process of specialties and spoke about the increase in quotas and the transparency and meritocracy of this process.
“We have 325 quotas, which are ready to be selected by general practitioners who want to specialize in different branches of medicine, starting from cardiology, pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, anesthesia-reanimation, etc., so all these specialties so much needed. Of these 325 quotas, 140 of them are quotas covered, or supported by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, where specialist doctors, who will choose to have a contract with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, will be supported even with the monthly payment”, Manastirliu said.
Manastirliu also spoke about the salary increase, which is significant for doctors who are in the process of getting special training and have a contract with the Ministry of Health.
“According to the new salary policy in the health system, specialist doctors who will have a contract with the Ministry of Health will be paid about 1000 euros per month, not including the on duty service they perform in university hospitals throughout the cycle of qualification, for which there is an extra payment”, Manastirliu said.
The most selected branches this year were cardiology, endocrinology, pediatrics, obstetrics-gynecology, surgery, dermatology, etc. After freezing of specializations in Medicine for four years, in these 8 years of the re-opening of specializations, there are more than 2 thousand open quotas for medical specialists.
