Opposition calls on prosecutors to provide transparency over investigation into salaries database leak

TIRANA, Dec 27 /ATA/ – The main opposition Democratic Party (DP) reacted Monday to the most recent lead of personal data on monthly salary of Albanian citizens, calling on the Prosecutor’s office to provide transparency over the ongoing investigation.

DP Vice Chairman Enkelejd Alibeaj claimed in a press conference that the data leak was the other side of the unpunished scandal of the party patronage system, and called on prosecutors to fully investigate into the incident.

“In the face of this upheaval of the Albanian state, in the face of insecurity and distrust caused by degradation of the state due to the political interests of the state party, the Prosecutor’s office has a duty to make transparency on investigations into the publication of personal data Albanian citizens,” Alibeaj stated.

“The government cannot evade responsibility for this grave scandal. (PM) Edi Rama’s statements cannot hide the fact that sensitive data of over 630,000 Albanians are today in the hands of gangs and criminals. The responsibility also falls on SPAK, the institution that should had fully and seriously investigated into the scandal, when the Socialist Party, through its patronage system, used the personal data of the citizens to win the April 25 general elections,” he stated.
