Balla: Personal salary data leak, attempt to cause instability

TIRANA, Dec 27 /ATA/ – The Chairman of the Socialist Party’s parliamentary group Taulant Balla said Monday that a recent leak of personal salary records from a government database of state and private employees was an attempt to destabilize and cause confusion in the country.

“The leak of personal data is an attempt to cause instability. It is a tough situation for many private companies and the leak may harm the employee-employer relation,” Balla said in a press conference, calling for a thorough investigation and harsh penalties so that such situations are prevented from happening in the future.

The senior Socialist official also announced that the Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee on Judicial Reform will continue its work in the next session of the Parliament and underlined that the new Electoral Reform will be finalized ahead of the 2023 mayoral elections in the country.

Balla also commented on extension of the term of justice reform bodies that are vetting the country’s judges and prosecutors, the election of the country’s next President, and the United States decision to declare former Prime Minister Sali Berisha persona non-grata.

“The communication with the head of the opposition’s parliamentary group is underway to set up an ad-hoc parliamentary committee on the electoral reform. We will keep insisting for the OSCE/ODIHR election reports and recommendations are the main guidelines for the next reform, which I believe will be finalized ahead of the local elections in 2023,” Balla said.

Balla also pointed out an initiative launched by a group of Socialist MPs to extend the vetting deadline, saying that constructive communication with the opposition is a must.
