TIRANA, Dec 8 /ATA/ The Democratic Party (DP) head, Lulzim Basha stated on Wednesday that the Democratic Party has known and will know how to stand strong and united, because it has a mission “Albania like the rest of Europe”.
In the event organized on the occasion of December 8, the National Youth Day, Basha expressed his gratitude to the students of December ’90, who rose up and overcame fear to bring political freedom and pluralism.
There are 3 events, encapsulated into one: the student uprising of December ’90, the political freedom of pluralism, the foundation of the Democratic Party. The cult of the individual unfortunately continues, just as many aspects of the communist mentality continue to dominate public, political life, the Socialist Party, our historical adversary, but also continue within our political family. “And this is not the moment to chant the name of the party head, because what the cult of the individual did is that it destroyed the individuality of every Albanian”, he said.
Basha said that “today is also the day to issue an apology, because 31 years on we are again living under the conditions of a regime that has so many commonalities with dictatorship and the features of dictatorship.”
“We know that our main task is to fight against this regime, but first of all we have to be true to ourselves and when we apologize we have to know what to apologize for,” he said.
