TIRANA Oct 25 /ATA/ – By I.Vata/ Albania is ready for the new cooperation program with the UN for the period 2022-2026.
This is what Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, said in her remarks at the ceremony on the 76th anniversary of the UN and the signing of the New Cooperation Program for Sustainable Development 2022 – 2026.
“This is definitely a marked day for all of us, especially for countries like Albania that see in this organization and in general in the forms of multilateral engagement the best hope for a peaceful world, for an establishment based on international laws and rules, ” said Xhaçka.
Xhaçka added that “I believe that Albania and our region are the clearest proof of the success of multilateral cooperation if we work together. I believe that precisely in this direction, ie in terms of promoting cooperation, playing an important regional role as a factor of peace and stability, as a security exporter, as a serious actor that tries to work hard to promote and consolidate bridges of cooperation, Albania has managed to build a solid track record. It is a foreign policy and a regional role based on a fair and practical reading of philosophy on which the United Nations is founded.
Xhaçka said, “this is the reason why this organization where we all adhere, was founded 76 years ago on the ruins and endless bloodshed of the Second World War. In this context, we have welcomed the UN initiative for a new approach to our region through the fund for the Western Balkans, which focuses on promoting dialogue, strengthening trust and achieving reconciliation. Albania has been among the first countries in the region to support this initiative, just as it has embraced with the same seriousness and commitment the UN Millennium Development Goals and is strongly committed to the implementation of the 2030 agenda for the fulfilment of sustainable development goals. ”
