Blaze in Karaburun and Dukat extinguished

TIRANA, August 11/ATA/- After several days of intensive work, the operation to extinguish all fires, including those of Karaburun peninsula and Dukat village, is coming to an end.

Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi stated that, “At last, after 2 weeks of efforts and sacrifices, there are no more fires in Karaburun. Hundreds of hours of battles, hundreds of troops of the Armed Forces and fire brigade, specialists in protected areas and civil emergencies have worked tirelessly to save the Llogara National Park.”

“This hot season is not over yet, but today, in this moment of breath, I want to thank all those who worked hard in these difficult days”, Peleshi emphasized.

Even the MP of the ruling Socialist Party Damian Gjiknuri said that, “I followed and got constantly informed about the efforts and measures taken by the relevant structures at central and local level”.

“This was another case that clearly confirms that politicians should support emergency headquarters and let them do their job without interfering either for political purposes or to use them for personal publicity in the media. We politicians, according to the role and task we have, must do our best to support professional structures with what they need and when they need it. Law enforcement agencies must do everything possible to find and punish the arsonists who caused this colossal damage to nature. Such events should make us reflect better on the relationship that humanity has built with nature and on the fury of the latter when these relations get unbalanced”, declared the SP MP./p.s./
