World Bank: Albania’s GDP projected to grow 4.4 % in 2021

TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ – The World Bank (WB) expects Albanian economy to expand by 4.4% in 2021.

World’s most important financial institution said in its Global Economic Prospects report that Albania’s economic output is projected to grow by 4.4% this year. WB also projects a positive growth of the country’s economy in 2022.

The Bank said in its report that the economies of Albania and North Macedonia will be driven by the acceleration of structural reforms as part of preparation for EU membership.

According to the WB Global Economic Prospects report for 2021 (GEP21), economy in Europe and Central Asia region is forecast to expand a stronger-than-expected 3.9% in 2021, partly due to improvement in the euro area.

“However, the outlook remains challenging given the recent worsening of the pandemic, tighter macroeconomic policy, and elevated policy uncertainty and geopolitical tensions,” the Bank notes in its report.
