TIRANA, June 8 /ATA/ – The Democratic Party spokeswoman Ina Zhupa claimed in a press statement on Tuesday that an operation to demolish illegal buildings in the southern coastal town of Ksamil was a political revenge against the denunciations against the government during the electoral campaign.
“On April 5, we met Hidajet Zogaj and his family members, who had complained and denounced an authorized building constructed by family members of the municipality officials. However, now with the elections over, the authorities do not demolish the illegal building reported by his family. Instead it is their building that is torn down as a political revenge just for supporting the opposition. Police and National Territory Protection Inspectorate officials, without sending any notification and by violating the law, demolish the house whose construction started in 2004, but had yet to complete as the family couldn’t afford its construction,” Zhupa said.
Zhupa said it was “the opposition’s duty not to stop the battle for the citizens who voted for DP and Albanian citizens who want to put an end to impunity and clientelism of friends and family members of the government officials.”
