TIRANA, May 5/ATA/- The EU Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, Oliver Varhelyi stated on Wednesday that after the final results of the elections, the Albanian Parliament should start work and continue with the implementation of the reforms set by the European Union.
During a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama at the international airport “Mother Teresa”, where the first doses of Pfizer vaccines funded by the EU arrived, Varhelyi said that, in terms of election results I have closely followed what is really happening, including the media, but also what the OSCE-ODIHR has said. ”
“I think that after a very heated election campaign with heated debates, what we need now are clear, final results. I have been told that the appeal period has begun so we want to look at all the irregularities even the possible vote buying, to be prosecuted by all judicial authorities. But, after this process, we need final results, and after these final results, the Albanian Parliament will need to start its work very soon and move forward with EU reforms,” Varhelyi underlined.
In his remarks, the Commissioner Varhelyi emphasized that, “without a complete Assembly it is not possible to move forward on your path to the European Union, there is still much work to be done”. //a.i/
