PM Rama: Wining battle against pandemic is vital, opposition seeking to seize power and turn Albania upside down

TIRANA, March 31 /ATA/ – Prime Minister Edi Rama said Wednesday it is essential for the country to win the battle against the novel coronavirus and overcome the crisis through mass vaccination.

“It is vitally important that we win this huge battle, this world war against the invisible enemy and emerge stronger from this history,” the Premier said in his remarks as he presented his Socialist Party’s candidate for the next month’s general election in Shkodra.

“Albania is the only of two countries in our Balkan region to secure the vaccines and launch the mass inoculation drive, while other countries have secured symbolic quantities of the vaccines. How did this come about? Did the vaccines rained down from the sky? No! It was our persistence, patience and hard work. Do you think the vaccine shipments will continue to be delivered this way should the opposition wins the election? Forget it! They are not capable of delivering on such things,” he said.

“The only thing they know is raising fingers upright in V-shape and chant ‘Rama go’. They are not to blame for calling on me to go, since they don’t know how to succeed otherwise. They can’t win elections and therefore just keep calling on me to go? Should I really go just because they want me to do so? They want see me going because they are seeking to seize power again and turn things upside down,” Rama said.
