TIRANA, October 14 /ATA/ The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has drafted a new law aimed at strengthening the control chain of tobacco growers and collectors in the country.
The draft stipulates that before planting seedlings, the farmer must submit a written request to the unit responsible for agriculture in the region (AREB) for all cadastral parcels declared to be planted with tobacco and equip the tobacco grower with the personal card of confirmed for factual data.
Farmers will operate on production quotas according to the agreement with the collectors while they will have to meet certain conditions to enter into a contract with a collector.
Also in this draft law are defined new rules for the control of tobacco products present in the Albanian market.
The new draft law also aims to support the sector by promoting the growth of areas planted with tobacco.
“Involvement in financial support with national schemes will promote the increase of the area planted with tobacco,” said the Ministry. /a.a/p.s./
