TIRANA, April 25 /ATA/ President of the Republic Ilir Meta stated on Saturday that amendments to Criminal Code are up to the European standards for protection of human rights in the field of public health.
In a televised interview, Meta said that the amendments are even more prudent than Denmark which is a leading country in protection of human rights in our continent and also the first country that introduced the term Ombudsman in 1241.
According to him, there was a loophole in criminal law pertaining to emergency state induced by natural disaster and the intervention was more than necessary, otherwise the conduct in relation to the citizens would have been abusive.
“I do not believe that a citizen of Albania disapproves of the penalties for carriers of infectious diseases risking the lives of other people on purpose,” Meta said.
According to him, proportionality and juridical security are completely guaranteed.
