TIRANA, October 14 /ATA/ – Albanian weightlifter Samuel Rrasa claimed bronze in the clean and jerk (under-65 kg category) at the ongoing U-23 European Weightlifting Championship in Durrës. After narrowly missing the podium with a fourth-place, 125 kg lift in the snatch, Rrasa bounced back in the clean and jerk, lifting 153 kg to lock in third place and the bronze. He finished fourth in the overall standings with a combined total of 278 kg.
The Albanian national team is competing with nine athletes at the European Championship in Durrës, featuring six juniors (two women, four men) and three U-23 lifters (one woman, two men). After Rrasa secured Albania’s first medal of the tournament, the team looks to build on that success in the upcoming sessions.
Action continues on October 16, when Enkeleda Carja joins Group A of the women’s up-to-69 kg category at 13:00, followed by Antonino Mullisi in Group A of the junior up-to-75 kg category at 17:00.
